One of the largest announcements that Apple made in regards to MacOS Sonoma (MacOS 14) at WWDC is that a Game Mode will be launching on Macs later this year.
According to Apple, with Game Mode enabled the Mac will prioritise CPU and GPU power for the game that is running, improving hardware performance across the board.
It’s also been said that Game Mode will lower latency with wireless controllers with double the sampling rate and headphones such as the Apple AirPods.
Game Mode will work with all games that have released on Apple Macs with Silicon and also upcoming games.
Otherwise, it was confirmed that Apple were dropping a new Game Porting toolkit for developers to make it easier to port games from other platforms.
It’s clear that Apple is definitely focusing on gaming again with the likes of Stray, Death Stranding, Layers of Fear and Disney Dreamlight Valley and No Man’s Sky will be coming to the Mac.
