An Xbox Branded Handheld Is Apparently Coming This Year

Makes sense

It’s been rumoured for some time (and even somewhat confirmed by Xbox) but Windows Central is reporting that an Xbox branded handheld is set to release later this year, before a fully-fledged Xbox handheld releases alongside its next handheld in 2027.

It’s presumed that an Xbox branded handheld from the likes of ASUS, Lenovo or MSI will come later this year. It’s codenamed Keenan and the handheld will apparently unmistakently look like an Xbox with an official Xbox guide button and Xbox design choices.

It’s not confirmed which brand Xbox will be partnering with but I do feel the ASUS ROG Ally will be the best fit, so it’ll be interesting to see.

Further to this, Windows Central is also reporting that Xbox is releasing a handheld alongside its next-gen Xbox console which is set to release in 2027. This console will be more closely aligned to Windows than ever before which should reduce the amount of work needed to create games for Xbox/PC.

It’s going to be interesting to see where this all ends up, but in the grand scheme of things it does make a lot of send that Xbox will tap into these already existing ecosystems which are mainly based around PCs and Windows.
