Apple opened up its September event this morning by announcing both the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2.
APPLE WATCH SERIES 9 NEW FEATURES
It has a new S9 processor which is 30% faster. It makes the animations look super smooth with Siri being able to be processed on-board for a lot of commands with dictation being up to 25% more accurate. An example given was health data, which can be given to you through Siri.
The new display goes up to 2000 nits and as low as 1 nit which is great for outdoor areas, but also those areas where you want to use your watch where it might be darker. Apple Watch Series 9 is still rated for an all-day, 18 hour battery life.
An example of the new chip’s usefulness was precise finding of your iPhone, and Apple Watch knowing when you’re near units such as the HomePod playing media in your house.
Apple showed off a new gesture for Series 9 called double tab where you use your thumb and forefinger together in a slight clicking motion to perform the primary action in an app such as answering a call or hanging up. Apple says that it uses the neural engine to determine when there’s blood movement between your thumb and forefinger.

NO MORE APPLE LEATHER ACCESSORIES
Apple had some big sustainability updates including all Apple Watch manufacturing taking place by clean energy, and Apple managing all 100% of electricities by charging Apple Watches by investing in renewable energies around the world.
Another big change that Apple has announced is that it will no longer use leather in any products, including watch bands. To replace the leather watch bands, Apple has introduced a new band type called FineWoven which Apple described as having a suede like feel. This goes for partners such as Hermes who will no longer create leather watch bands.
