ASUS has announced that the ROG Phone 8 and 8 Pro are both out in Australia today. Both phones feature super high-end specs as we’ve seen in previous years, but have opted for a much more standard design this year that more closely resembles a standard smart phone.
The 8 Pro is 15% thinner than last year, and features a 6.78% flexible AMOLED display that can run up to 165hz. It now has a peak brightness of 2500 nits and includes the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor which makes for 25% better GPU performance and a 25% improvement in power efficiency.
The ROG Phone 8 Pro still features its signature back screen, although it’s more hidden this year, working its way into the actual phone design and only shining through when it’s turned on which makes for a much nicer design. It also still comes with its AeroActive Cooler X Clip-on cooler but is now 29% smaller and offers 1.2x the thermal efficiency reducing the back cover temperature by as much as 36 degrees.
As far as cameras go, the main camera has a 50 MP Sony sensor, a 13 MP ultrawide camera and a 32 MP ultrawide telephoto with 3x optical zoom.
