DJI Mavic 4 Pro Is The Best Prosumer Drone On The Market

Every year, I look forward to the advancements of DJI. Whether it’s drone, gimbal or action camera – the company has always something up their sleeves for us tech heads to drool over. This time around, they’ve released the anticipated DJI Mavic 4 Pro – a new drone which has sights set on the prosumer users.

The new DJI Mavic 4 Pro features a ‘ball-head’ style powerful triple-camera featuring a 100MP 4/3″ Hasselblad sensor capable of capturing 6K/60fps video, 48MP medium telephoto and a 50MP long-range telephoto lens. The ball-head gimbal adds a 360° rotation with true vertical shooting, giving you the freedom and flexibility to capture anything.

The level of photography and video capability here is seriously impressive, giving you the tools to capture truly stunning shots. As I navigated the drone around the local landscape, what really stood out was the power of the long-range telephoto lens – it lets you snap distant subjects without having to fly too close. While the Mavic 4 Pro boasts a 41 km max range (which I didn’t push, preferring to keep the drone within visual line of sight), it still allowed me to capture far-off scenes with ease, all without leaving my launch spot.

The DJI Mavic 4 Pro comes with the new DJI RC Pro 2 controller – which, straight out of the box, is an insane piece of tech. The last controller I had hands-on experience in the past was the RC 2, and I already thought that it featured some of the most impressive tech I’d ever seen in a controller. But the new RC Pro 2 is an entirely different beast.

Flipping up the monitor not only powers it on but also reveals the built-in control pad with joysticks ready to go. Gone are the days of scrambling to set up the RC 2 controller which means getting flight-ready is now faster and far less tedious. The screen itself is impressively bright and sharp – so good, in fact, you could probably watch a full movie on it… though you’ll be too busy making one yourself. This is all thanks to the ultra-bright 2000-nit Mini-LED display, which makes it even easier to see exactly what you’re capturing.

THE CHEAPEST PRICE: $3,099 AUD

Another feature of the screen is the ability to rotate it to vertical shooting. Yes, short form and fellow TikTokers – you can now easily frame your shots and video in vertical without the need of guide lines like before. The controller is also packed with 128GB of storage built-in so out of the box – the DJI RC Pro 2 is good to go.

DJI has made flying drones feel effortless, thanks to intuitive software paired with advanced features. As your piloting skills improve, you can push the limits and attempt more daring shots. The DJI Mavic 4 Pro is beginner-friendly but also offers plenty of room to grow, making it ideal for creators looking to level up their drone content over time.

The DJI Mavic 4 Pro comes with a hefty price tag and is clearly aimed at prosumers and serious content creators. While it’s not typically a first-time drone purchase, its ease of use might surprise you. If you’re a professional creator or serious enthusiast, the Mavic 4 Pro is a serious contender to level up your eye in the sky.

The Mavic 4 Pro is out now. You can get it from the DJI store for $3,099 AUD here.
