Australia will mark the first English speaking country outside of North America to get ESPN on Disney Plus. The new ESPN hub will bring more than 10,000 hours of live sports via ESPN and ESPN2 channels with shows including SportsCenter, The Pat McAfee Show, NBA Today, and First Take, along with live events and on-demand replays.
DEAL: GET 12 MONTHS DISNEY PLUS FOR THE PRICE OF 10 MONTHS
Just to name a few, ESPN has the rights to NBA All-Star Weekend, NBL Championship Series, MLB Opening Day, the NBA Finals and the NHL Stanley Cup Finals.
All Disney Plus Premium and Standard subscribers will be able to access the ESPN line-up of channels. A release date for the channel hasn’t yet been set but more information will be released in the coming months. Here’s exactly what Disney says will be available: “The new ESPN hub on Disney+ will bring more than 10,000 hours of ESPN’s live sports action to the platform via the ESPN and ESPN2 channels, additional on-demand live events, on-demand replays and iconic original programming.”
ESPN was previously only available on Foxtel/Kayo, so this is obviously a big shake-up and one that will likely bring more people to Disney. It’s unclear whether it will remain on Foxtel – it seems likely initially, but who knows how long that will last.
You can sign-up to Disney Plus HERE and there’s currently a deal where you can get 12 months for the price of 10 when you sign-up to an annual plan.
