Insta360 has announced its latest action cam, the Insta360 GO 3 which pushes things forward significantly from the GO 2.
It’s still a tiny camera coming in at only 35grams and smaller than your thumb, but the big innovation here is the new Action Pod. You can put the GO 3 into the pod to charge it and turn into fully functioning camera complete with a flip 2.2″ touch screen that allows you to preview what you’re shooting.

When the camera isn’t in the Action Pod, you can attach it to a range of objects using the magnet pendant (to wear around your neck), an easy clip to attach it to a hat and a pivot stand with a reusable sticky mount.
On the video quality side, there’s been an improvement in resolution to 2.7K with no length clip limitations. It also has a larger battery, so you can continue shooting for up to 45 minutes before placing it in the pod. Including the Action Pod battery, you get 170 minutes total.
New recording modes include pre-recording, loop recording and timed capture. Timed capture in particular sounds interesting in the sense you can set the camera to turn on to capture a sunrise for instance after placing it in the desired location.
