Logitech has announced a brand new version of the Astro A50 called the Astro A50 X Lightspeed wireless headset and it has some extremely unique features that are sure to put the Astro brand back on the map as the go-to premium headset.
Something I never expected to see, but am super glad that the headset features is what is essentially a HDMI 2.1 switcher built into the dock that makes it compatible with the PS5, Xbox Series X and PC as well as Bluetooth with the one headset.
The dock has two HDMI 2.1 ports inputs (one for PS5/Xbox Series X), two USB-C chat ports and another USB-C port that is for your PC connection or power. You can also connect to Bluetooth to get your Discord mix or audio into the headset as well. It then has a HDMI 2.1 out port for connection to your TV or sound system. Because this is HDMI 2.1 technology you don’t lose the 4K, 120HZ or VRR signal and latency should hopefully be low as well.
Logitech calls this technology PLAYSYNC and allows you to press one button on the headset to go between all of your sources both from a video and audio point of view. If this does live up to this promise without any hiccups, it’ll be one of the only headsets on the market that works with PS5, Xbox Series X and PC for both game audio and chat without changing over any cords or buying multiple dongles/headsets.
The Astro A50 X will have graphene audio drivers and it will obviously come with a base station that you can charge the headset with as well with the headset featuring a 24 hour battery life. You can also use the Logitech G Hub or Logietch G app on iOS/Android devices to play with the EQ settings of the headset and adjust other settings.
