Apple has announced the M3 MacBook Air and it will launch in both the 13-inch and 15-inch variations.
Outside of the faster M3 chip, there’s some hardware improvements including the ability to use dual external screens for the first time with the standard Apple Silicon chip, although the laptop will need to be closed for this to work.
The M3 MacBook Air also has faster Wi-Fi 6E support which is an extremely welcome addition on the device. It will retain its super incredible battery life of up to 18 hours.
Apple says that the M3 chip is 60% faster than the M1 and 13x faster than the fastest intel-based MacBook Air. It offers an 8-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU as well as support for up to 24GB of ram.
The M3 MacBook Air will release in Australia on March 8th with pre-orders live now. It will come in midnight, starlight, space grey and silver at the below prices:
13-inch M3 MacBook Air Australian Prices
8-Core CPU / 8-Core GPU / 8GB Memory / 256GB SSD – $1,799 AUD
15-inch M3 MacBook Air Australian Prices
8-Core CPU / 10-Core GPU / 8GB Memory / 256GB SSD – $2,199 AUD
With the release of the M3 MacBook Air, Apple has also discontinued the original M1 Air with the base model now featuring an M2 Chip.
I called the M2 MacBook Air the perfect balance in my review going on to say that “The MacBook Air 15-Inch follows in the footsteps of its younger siblings in providing a great performing laptop in a portable body. The larger screen is much appreciated and the battery life continues to be best in class making this an easy recommendation for creatives and casual users alike”
