NVIDIA has today announced its long-awaited RTX 4070 GPU, which is without doubt the cheapest way to get the DLSS 3.0 goodness into your life, particularly in the 1440p space.
The RTX 4070 will cost $1,109 AUD in Australia (it has an RRP of $599 USD) and it’s assumed that partner cards will likely cost more than this.
The RTX 4070 is set to release on April 13th, so not too long to wait at all. It’s unlikely that the Founder’s Edition will be available in Australia but partner cards from the likes of MSI and Gigabyte will be available.
As far as performance goes, it’s very clear that this is a 1440p card first and foremost, blowing past 100FPS in games such as Cyberpunk 2077 (with RT ultra), A Plague Tale Requiem, Dying Light 2, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Spider-Man Miles Morales, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Warhammer 40K: Darktide.
NVIDIA says that it has 1.4x times the performance of a 3080 when utilising DLSS 3.0 (1x performance with standard DLSS), 1.7x the performance of a 3070 Ti whilst utilising DLSS 3.0 (1.2x performance with standard DLSS) and 1.8x performance of a 3070 (1.3x performance with standard DLSS).
This is fairly impressive given that just like the RTX 4080, it’s using a lot less power than its predecessor, but performing better than the 3070/3080 that came before it. Thankfully, the card is a dual-slot card, which makes it a lot smaller than it’s bigger brothers, the 4080 and 4090.

As far as NVIDIA’s current GPU line-up, they consider the line-up to be:
It’s assumed that next in line will likely be the RTX 4060, but we’ll have to wait and see when that eventuates.
