I knew as soon as I went hands-on with the Nintendo Switch 2 back in April that the new magnetic snapping Joy-Cons were going to make for some great accessory options beyond what we ever saw with the original Nintendo Switch.
We saw this when we looked at Aussie company Powerwave’s cases last week, and we see it in spades with its launch Joy-Con charging grip controller range, in addition to its Joy-Con docking stations which all provide something for everyone regardless of whether you want portability, or to be able to charge four Joy-Cons or have a multitude of options for control schemes.
This is such a huge improvement on not only the official Switch 2 Joy-Con grip in the box, but also the $50 official Nintendo charging Joy-Con grip as well that you can buy separately as well.
It’s not only more comfortable, but it not only charges the Joy-Cons through a USB-C cord, but it also has a built-in 1,500mAh battery to give the Joy-Con 2 controllers more than another full charge. This can be controlled through a power button on the back, so you can control when to use the battery reserve. It also has its own LED indicator on the top of the grip as well to let you know when they’re charged.

This is a super unique Joy-Con grip/charging dock combo. In the box, you get two Joy-Con connectors that can quickly turn your Joy-Con chargers into controllers with a USB-C port for re-charging as well (unlike the official one in the box).
What’s more interesting though is that it also comes with a dock, so that you can slot both controllers into it to keep them charged at all times. If you’ve got spare Joy-Con controllers it’s an absolutely fantastic way to not only create extra controllers, but also ensure that they’re charged at all times for multiplayer sessions. They all have their own LED indicators on the top of the Joy-Con controllers as well to let you know when they’re charged.

The Powerwave Quad Charging Stand differs from the Dual Grip Charging Dock in the sense that it’s just a shell to charge four Joy-Con controllers. The Joy-Con controllers magnetically snap into the charger so you can charge 1-4 at any given time and there’s also an LED indicator on top of each Joy-Con controller as well to let you know when they’re charged and ready for play time.
This is a great option for those that want to have separate Joy-Con controllers charged at all times and don’t want them as traditional controllers. The cord is fixed and the base is a lot more solid than the Dual Grip Charging Stand for those that want it.

The Powerwave Compact Dual Charging Stand follows many of the same design principles as the other two Joy-Con docks, with the core difference being that this is a super portable charger that you can take with you as it lays totally flat or flips up with a little stand and it also only charges two Joy-Con controllers instead of four, which I think will be the sweet spot for most.
Just like the other docks, the Joy-Con controllers magnetically snap into the charger, you can charge them up over USB-C and there’s individual LED indictators to let you know clearly that they’re charged or need charging before your next play session.
This is also available in the $69 Powerwave Premium Starter pack which also includes a case, screen protector and cleaning cloth or You can grab it it for $29 standalone from:
