At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, AMD has revealed their new AMD Ryzen Z2 Series processors for gaming handhelds featuring increased performance, better ray-tracing and more.
The new line-up features three new APUs: the AMD Ryzen Z2, Z2 Extreme and Z2 Go
The AMD Ryzen Z2 processor features 8 cores, 16 threads and will also introduce RDNA 4 technology. There will also be a Z2 Extreme version of the chip jumping up the graphics cores to 16 instead of 12. The Z2 Go version will be presumably exclusive to the new Lenovo Go S.
The announcement has also pointed out that Valve will be using the new Ryzen Z2 Series processors however there hasn’t been any official confirmation as to what it exactly is – possibly a Steam Deck revision or something completely different.
If you have been holding off a handheld or looking for the next upgrade, it seems like a performance refresh is on the horizon with these brand new processors. We can’t wait to see more.
