The ASUS ROG Ally is still two weeks away from launching, but that $1,300 AUD price tag doesn’t seem to have scared too many people away with JB Hi-Fi updating its listing to say that it has now sold out of the first shipment.
In a notice on the listing on its website, JB Hi-Fi said that “Orders placed from 31st May 2023 onwards will be fulfilled from next available shipment (ETA 20th June 2023)”. Thankfully at the time of writing, those that pre-order today will only have to wait roughly a week after the June 13th, launch date with the estimated time of the second shipment coming in at May 31st.
ASUS was very confident at its launch event a few weeks ago, stating that it was very prepared for any amount of orders that it receives and the fact that the first shipment has sold out, but the second shipment only appears to be a week later definitely drive that home.
We reviewed the ASUS ROG Ally this week and it’s worth mentioning that an update has apparently dropped that improves performance by 20%. Unfortunately, our review unit has gone back so this can’t be confirmed.
In our review, we said: “The ASUS ROG Ally feels like a genuine step forward in the handheld space. It has a glorious 1080p/120hz display, runs all PC games extremely consistently and for the most part behaves exactly as expected. Some minor glitches and the battery life are the only thing that can still be improved upon.”
