AYANEO has lifted the lid on the Retro Mini PC AM02 and it looks like an absolute winner based on functionality, power and price point.
You can find the Indiegogo pre-order page HERE with the AM02 shipping in late February. You prices are as below:
- Barebones – $441 USD (~$670 AUD)
- 16GB + 512GB – $531 USD (~$841 AUD)
- 16GB + 1TB – $571 USD (~$868 AUD)
- 32GB + 1TB – $631 USD (~$959 AUD)
Following in the footsteps of the AM01 which was shaped like the original Macintosh and aimed at budget users, the AM02 has a lot more power which its 7840HS chip and is shaped like an NES with cartridge flap and all.
The coolest part of the device is absolutely its 4-inch display which goes between four different screens showing current FPS and internal metrics, the clock/weather, an adjustment screen to adjust sound, and a custom screen that can show graphics.
The little flap at the front reveals two USB-A ports, a USB-C port and a 3.5mm jack whilst the back has two USB-A ports, a USB-C port for power, HDMI 2.0 and DP 1.4 as well as two ethernet ports.
The APU featuring an AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS means that it should be more powerful than the AYANEO 2S (reviewed here). This means it should be great for emulation and playing AAA games at 1080p.
