ORIGINAL STORY: AYANEO has revealed the follow-up to my personal favourite Windows handheld in the AYANEO Flip 1S.

I loved the original because it’s a clamshell which makes it super easy to pop in a bag, but also that second screen makes navigating Windows so much easier as you have a second screen to manage TDP settings, frame rates and more, so I’m so glad to see AYANEO sticking with this design.

The Flip 1S DS has a brand new 7-inch 1080P OLED display with a high refresh rate of 144hz as well as peak brightness of 800 nits and the larger screen has also been made larger and is now a 4.5-inch 1080p IPS display with 550 nits of brightness.

As far as performance goes, it has the new AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor which should provide improvements both with efficiency and performance. It also has a new VC vapor chamber + air cooling combo for even better cooling capabilities. The handheld will also have upgraded dual USB-C ports on the top and bottom both for charging and high-speed transfer.

The Flip 1S has also been upgraded with a full CNC metal design, and whilst I loved the feeling of the first one, this looks more premium and I think will feel more premium in the hand as well. The hinge has also been improved to allow the screen to be opened at more angles as well.

The AYANEO Flip 1S DS is set to release later this year and we’ll keep you posted once we have prices and release dates. You can find our review for the original handheld HERE.
