Google has today lifted the lid off the Google Pixel 8a which is seemingly getting close to the regular model in the line-up which is a good thing. The design of the phone features the more rounded edges of the Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro which is a welcomed change.
The Google Pixel 8a has a Google Tensor G3 chip, it has a 6.1-inch Actua display with a 120hz display. It offers a 40% brighter display than the Pixel 7a and is obviously the first series A device with that higher refresh rate.
As far as the cameras go, it has dual rear cameras with a 64-megapixel main lens and a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens and it also has a 13-megapixel front facing camera. Just like the Pixel 8/8 Pro you can take advantage of Best Take, Magic Editor and Audio Magic Eraser to improve your content.
It also has Super Res Zoom up to 8x and you can use Magic Eraser, Night Sight and Photo Unblur as well.
Google has also announced that Gemini will be coming to the Pixel 8a. This is a built-in assistant that lets you talk, type or add images on the go.
As far as updates go, you’ll get seven years of security updates and Android OS updates which should keep you going for quite a while.
GOOGLE PIXEL 8A AUSTRALIAN PRICE AND RELEASE DATE
The Google Pixel 8a will release in Australia on May 14th for $849 AUD (a $100 increase) in Bay, Obsidian and Porcelain. In other parts of the world a larger 256GB option will release as well as a lovely Mint colour.
In our review of the Google Pixel 7a last year, we said “The Google Pixel 7a is a huge improvement on the Pixel 6a in almost every way. It redefines what a phone at this price point offers and is an easy recommendation for anyone looking at a phone that has premium features without breaking the bank.”
