After spending some time with the MSI Modern 14S AI+ and Modern 16S AI+, it’s clear that MSI has nailed the formula for delivering premium features at a price point that feels incredibly competitive. These are easily two of the best value Intel Core Ultra Series 3 laptops that I’ve used, and choosing between them really comes down to whether you prioritise portability or a larger display.
The first thing that stood out to me was the design. Both laptops feature sleek aluminium construction that feels far more premium than their price tags suggest. They’re also impressively thin and lightweight, making them easy to carry around whether you’re heading to work, university or traveling.
The OLED displays are another highlight. Both screens are bright, vibrant and packed with contrast, making everything from web browsing and productivity tasks through to streaming content look fantastic. The larger 16-inch model naturally offers more room for multitasking, while the 14-inch version is perfect for those who want something more compact.
MSI has also made some smart usability improvements. The new touchpad is 17 per cent larger than previous models and includes the company’s new Action Touchpad functionality, which provides quick access to useful shortcuts and controls. It’s a small addition, but one that makes everyday use feel more intuitive.
Connectivity is excellent as well. Despite their slim designs, both laptops include USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, Ethernet and a MicroSD card reader, meaning you won’t need to live the dongle life. Wi-Fi 7 support also ensures they’re ready for the latest wireless networks.
Under the hood, both laptops are powered by Intel’s Core Ultra 7 355 processor. In my time with them, they handled everyday productivity, content creation, multitasking and even light gaming with ease. For anyone looking for a capable Windows laptop that punches above its weight, both the MSI Modern 14S AI+ and 16S AI+ are easy recommendations.
