PS5 Slim

The New PS5 Slim Model Is All Matte With Less Storage

A new PS5 Slim Model is rolling out to all territories with some significant changes, and YouTuber Austin Evans has got his hands on a model.

Whilst this isn’t an update that is being publicized and will seemingly come in at the same price, there are external and internal changes to the new model.

The largest one externally is the fact that instead of the top portion being glossy and the bottom matte, the PS5 Slim now has all matte faceplates. The original PS5 Slim SSD was upgraded to 1TB (from 825GB on the original PS5) but that has once again been downgraded to 825GB.

The new PS5 Slim is also about 120 grams lighter due to a redesigned heat sink structure made of thinner metal, although this doesn’t seem to have an impact on the power consumption or temperature that the console operates at.

This new model has already rolled out in Europe, and whilst there are no reports of it arriving in Australia yet (we normally get new PS5 models first), it can’t be long before this starts replacing the current 1TB Slim.

If you’re wanting a PS5 Slim 1TB, it’s currently down to $699 on Amazon ($130 off), so it’s actually a good time to jump in and grab one.
