The Nintendo Switch 2 Has Been Officially Revealed

It’s finally happening. After months and months of rumours, leaks and speculation, Nintendo has stealth dropped the announcement for the Nintendo Switch 2 alongside a trailer.

As expected, the Nintendo Switch 2 will have a larger display, magnetic Joy-Con controllers, a brand new larger kickstand, that new c button (although we still don’t know what it does) and more. Nintendo also confirmed that it will be releasing in 2025 and that it would have exclusive games as well, and we got our first glimpse at a new Mario Kart game.

Nintendo also confirmed that a Nintendo Direct focusing on the Nintendo Switch 2 will happen on April 2nd and that a series of hands-on events will happen around the world including one in Australia.

It’s happening in Melbourne from May 10-11th, 2025 and tickets will go live on January 18th at 11:00am AEDT until January 26th at 11:59pm for those that have a Nintendo Switch Online account.

The event will take place at Centrepiece at Melbourne Park on Olympic Boulevard and you can register HERE.

In terms of the physical form-factor, it looks to be the exact size as the model we went hands-on with at CES (as expected). You can read more about that HERE.
