The Nintendo Switch 2 Is Expected To Cost $650+ And Be The Biggest Gaming Launch Ever

In a new report by Bloomberg, analysts who are regularly in contact with Nintendo and its hardware/software partners are expecting the Nintendo Switch to carry a price tag of $400-$500 USD ($650-$795 AUD).

Despite this, analysts believe (and it isn’t hugely surprising) the Nintendo Switch 2 to be the biggest game launch in history. With the Nintendo Switch selling over 150 million units, and on track to be the best selling console of all time, it’s no surprise that this is going to be the biggest launch ever.

Unlike the PS5 and Xbox Series X which were both sold out at launch, it’s been well-noted by Nintendo that they’ve been preparing ample stock for launch, so we expect there to be a good amount more consoles available.

This is also set to be strengthened by the fact that Nintendo has been preparing a fantastic software lineup with Metroid Prime 4, Pokemon Legends Z-A and a new Mario Kart game to name a few, but third-party support is expected to be there in a big, big way.

“They will sell boatloads of Switch 2 in the first months in particular, almost regardless of the price,” said Tokyo-based industry watcher Serkan Toto. “We can expect a great software lineup in year one, from new Mario Kart and 3D Mario after eight years to Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4. There will also be third-party support from day one, most probably including blockbusters like Call of Duty.”

It won’t be long before we find out more about the Nintendo Switch 2 with the Direct taking place on Thursday, April 3rd at 00:00am AEDT.
