The PS5 Pro Will Apparently Launch Late Next Year With Sony’s Own DLSS Upscaling Solution

Huge!

Giant Bomber’s Jeff Grubb has gone on the record to say that Sony is working on a mid-gen PS5 upgrade. This isn’t new information going off other leakers, but Grubb is certainly the most high-profile person to come out and say it.

The PS5 Pro is due to launch in September 2024 according to Grubb who went on to suggest that it would support Sony’s own proprietary DLSS-like solution, which uses AI upscaling to help games run a better resolution and higher frame rates without taxing the console.

“That PS5 Pro leak is almost certainly real based on what I’ve heard now, and obviously I’m not the only one out there saying that, but I can throw my ‘confirm, confirm, confirm’ into the ring for everybody” said Grubb.

“That’s where like the 2x hardware ray tracing acceleration comes into place, but they would be able to do even more than just better hardware ray tracing. So yeah, this thing is probably happening.” continued Grubb.

September 2024 would mark almost four years from the release of the original PS5, so it absolutely would make sense for Sony to release a mid-gen refresh, just like we saw with the PS4 Pro.

Given DLSS is an absolutely incredible piece of technology that has totally changed PC performance, I’d be extremely excited for this to come to fruition.
