It’s not a huge secret at this point but an internal email obtained by Windows Central has confirmed that Xbox is full speed ahead on its next-gen console.
“We are moving full speed ahead on our next generation hardware, focused on delivering the biggest technological leap ever in a generation,” said Xbox President, Sarah Bond.
Earlier this year, Bond had said on the Xbox Podcast that this next Xbox would be the “largest technical leap” that Xbox has seen. Previous leaks had placed it as releasing in 2028, so it does feel like it’s early to even be talking about it.
Within the email was also a commitment to preserving older games through the likes of backwards compatibility and such. This is being done through a new team that is committed to game preservation.
“We have formed a new team dedicated to game preservation, important to all of us at Xbox and the industry itself,” Bond said.
