Anker has been on an absolute roll with products over the last 12 months, from the incredible Anker 737 power bank that I used everyday within my home and the smaller Nano power bank with a cord attached that I have in my carry bag, so I was more eager than ever to test out its new Anker Prime range.
The Anker Prime range includes three different form factors: there’s the 27,000 mAh flagship model which has all the bells and whistles in terms of fast-charging and features, the 20,000 mAh model which I suspect will be for most people and the baby 12,000 mAh model that is great for everyday use and still will charge most devices.
Whilst I tested the 27,000 and 12,000 models, all three contain new features such as wireless charging through connectors at the bottom that go with an Anker Prime base (that I hope to test test in the near future), and all of them also feature a larger screen than is found in the 737 that can be used to tell you how long left in the power back as well as current charing wattage.
THE CHEAPEST PRICE: $168 FROM ANKER / $299 FROM ANKER
The 27,000 MaH Anker Prime power bank somehow manages to improve on the 737 that came before it. It now has a larger 27,650 mAh of charge which comes in at 99.54Wh which is just below the 100Wh limit of most airlines.
It now has a total output of 240 watts across its two USB-C ports and single USB-a port and you can now charge it up at up to 170w with two USB-C cords connected which charges it back up at blistering speeds of around 45 minutes.
As far as new features go, it now has Bluetooth functionality, which can be used to connect to an Anker Prime app which is used to show you the same real-time stats as you can see on the screen, but you can also use your phone to find your power bank using a chime that plays out.
What I loved most about the 737 was that you could see exactly how long you had left based on the charging output using the screen, but that goes even further with the Prime range. You can now input devices based on how large their battery are and the Prime 27 will tell you in real-time how many charges left you have for that device based on the total capacity.
I absolutely love the larger Anker Prime power bank for use around the house or taking with me to the office and just knowing that I don’t have to regularly charge it, although when I do, knowing that it’s a super quick fast-charge to get it back up to 100%.
I’ve been taking the smaller 12,000 Prime power bank with me day to day and am finding that it’s the perfect size, but again, I love that it has a large display to see how much is left.
It has two USB-C ports that can output to a total of 130w which means that each port will output at 65w and this recharges back up to 100% in just under 45 minutes which really highlights how fast the 27,000 model recharges.
Whilst you don’t get the same bells and whistles in terms of Bluetooth connectivity, and the ability to set your device up to tell you how many charges for that specific device, you still get a display and a much more portable power bank that will meet the needs of most people.
Overall, I love that the Anker Prime range exists as it brings the best feature to hit power banks in years (the display) to a range of power banks with differing sizes.
