Framework (the buildable laptop company) has announced its first desktop. It’s called the Framework Desktop and it’s a super small PC at just 205mm deep, 96m wide and 226mm tall.
Just like other Framework products, you can use the expansion cards that let you add anything from USB-C to USB-A to a MicroSD slot to expandable storage in the two front slots on the unit with a full suite of IO at the back.
The Framework Desktop comes with the new AMD Ryzen AI Max APU which is extremely capable for gaming. There’s two options with the Max 385 (with 32GB of memory), or the Max+ 395 which comes with 64GB or 128GB of memory.
You can expect to play games at 1440p with the likes of Monster Hunter Wilds running at over 60 FPS, Cyberpunk 2077 running at over 70 FPS, Marvel Rivals hitting more than 60 FPS and Valorant hitting well above 240 FPS, so it’s extremely capable as a gaming PC. Framework’s benchmarks have it ahead of an RTX 4070 laptop GPU for comparison.
The mainboard has been custom created and is obviously a Mini ITX board with a single 120mm CPU fan. It’s super easy to build with you adding storage, your fan, your tiles and then popping the panels back on.
There’s also 21 customisable tiles on the front so you can make the mini PC your own and on the side you can show off the singular fan with a translucent panel or a black panel and there’s a number of different fan options too.
