Twitter has been broken in Australia since early this morning, with no signs of being fixed. The reason why it seems localised to Australia isn’t imminently clear in terms of if it’s a local server issue or an engineering issue that specifically seems localised to Australia, with no other parts of the world experiencing issues, and the usage of VPN to switch countries fixing the issue immediately.
Currently, the Twitter feed is in and out of loading, and tweets are only being sent sporadically. This seems to be a bigger issue when trying to tweet something with media attached.
This has been ongoing since at least 8:00am AEDT, and as of 12:00pm AEDT, it seems worse than it was earlier this morning. Elon Musk, Twitter’s CEO hasn’t Tweeted about the issue, and Twitter’s service page doesn’t show any issues at al (although that’s likely a global system).
Looking at Downdetector though, thousands of outages started appearing as of about 8:00am and haven’t really slowed at all to this point.
