Elgato has announced a new device called Prompter, but calling it a teleprompter would be a disservice to what this device actually is.
Think of it as an external 9-inch monitor that reflects onto glass that sits in front of your camera, whether that be an iPhone, DSLR or webcam. The screen doesn’t obstruct the view of your webcam, but is reflected from another screen that sits below that visible screen.
It can display text, show your twitch chat, be used for presenting or literally mirror what’s on your display as it’s essentially a monitor that doesn’t need additional power.
Think of it was a way of connecting directly with your intended audience, whether that be a TikTok video or just speaking to your chat or presenting, without having to look away from your camera.
In the box there’s a range of attachments so that it can work seamlessly sitting over the top of most cameras and it attaches to your computer over USB-C and needs no external power.
The Elgato Prompter will cost $280 USD (~$439 AUD) and it’s out now.
