The Modular 16″ Framework Gaming Laptop Just Got A Price And Release Window

Coolest piece of tech in 2023

Framework has announced release details for its highly anticipated 16″ Framework gaming laptop which will include a removable and upgradable GPU element.

The Framework will come in two variations: a DIY edition where you can customise all of your bits and install them yourself, or a pre-built version in a series of different combinations.

Framework 16

The GPU that can be installed is the Radeon RX 7700S with 8GB of GDDR6 memory. It has a 16″ 16:10 matte display with a 165 refresh rate and weighs 2.1kg with the standard module or 2.4kg with the GPU module installed.

Framework 16

There’s 6 customisable expansion card ports that can be used for USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, DP, Ethernet, 250GB, 1TB, MicroSD and Audio with the device having an 85Wh battery and an 180w fast charger available to purchase as well.

That’s just where the customisation fun begins. Not only can you swap out bezels, storage or memory like in the Framework 13″, because of the larger chassis, there’s also a number of different keyboard configurations that you can pop in this.

This includes a numpad, an RGB macropad, coloured cosmetic spacers or an LED matrix that is described as a display that can be used to track battery life, notifications, or even play a game of snake.

Framework 16 Options

On the keyboard side, you can change out the standard for an RGB keyboard or a clear keyboard, so the options are endless, and the best part of Framework, you can start with one set and easily swap out as you want to change it up.
