When Dead Island 2 was announced, it was revealed that it would be the first game to utilise Amazon’s new Alexa Game control tech, but courtesy of today’s Dead Island 2 showcase, we now know a little bit more about how it’ll work in-game.
In a staged video, we got to see it in-use. Commands such as “Hey Zombie” gets the attention of nearby zombies in game, whilst the command “Get me my axe” instantly pulls out an axe out of your arsenal. Saying the command “Time to go logo” seems to activate a special ability. It’s said that you can also use your voice to interact with NPCs, swap your weapons, take you to the nearest waypoint and much more.
Amazon Alexa Game Control is built right into the game, so you just need a headset or microphone. It’s only compatible on Xbox and PC at launch though, but you’ll also be able to control your smart home and such through the game.
Dead Island 2 launches on April 23rd for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
