Netflix Price Increase Australia

Netflix’s Account Sharing Crackdown Is Starting In Australia Today

It's over!

After being announced months ago and already being the case in New Zealand, Netflix has announced that its account sharing crackdown has arrived in Australia today.

Starting today, your Netflix account will only be able to used within your house (which will be tracked via IP address) or on your own personal device or holiday home/hotel. Netflix will help you set this primary location in the coming days when you use your account.

As of this moment, if you are sharing your account with someone that isn’t in your house, they will either need to transfer their profile to a brand new Netflix account, or you can add an extra member for $7.99 AUD to your account which will they’ll be able to transfer their profile to from your your account.

The big change starts with Netflix logging your home IP address which is what it will designate as your primary location. As for your laptop or iPad, you can continue to use it out of the home as long it connects to your home network at least once a month.

In an email sent to customers, Netflix has said that “your Netflix account is for you and the people you live with – your household. You can easily watch Netflix on the go and when you travel (either on a personal device or TV at a hotel room). It then detailed the below changes.
