Samsung announced a bunch of new foldable phones, new tablets and new watches tonight, and we’ve got the lowdown on all of them. All of the devices will release on April 18th and are available to pre-order now. You can get all the Australian prices and pre-order bonuses HERE.
SAMSUNG GALAXY Z FLIP 5
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a new Flex Hinge that allows for a no gap design when folded, but the big story here is absolutely that gorgeous new cover display which has gone from 1.9-inches to 3.4-inches taking up a good chunk of that outer portion.
Samsung is calling it the Flex Window and it allows you to not only type (with a QWERTY keyboard), make calls and check the weather forecast, but it also has a range of widgets ranging anywhere from a media player, to a weather app, to your calendar, to steps, to smart things.
SAMSUNG GALAXY Z FOLD 5
The largest improvement is without doubt the new zero gap hinge (called the Flex Hinge) which not only results in a stronger hinge and a less visible crease, but a perfectly flat closing design.
Due to this, it is also 10 grams lighter than the Z Fold 4 and also 2.4mm thinner when closed.
The display is now brighter at 1750 nits and performance is up with a 32% faster performing GPU and a 18% faster performing CPU.
SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB S9
The Tab S9, Tab S9+ and Tab S9 Ultra will all feature a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display for the first time with 11-inch, 12.4-inch and 14.6-inch displays respectively.
All of the tablets are the first water and dust-resistant tablets with the S Pen also being IP68 certified as well.
SAMSUNG GALAXY WATCH 6
As far as the design goes, there’s now a 20% larger display, a 30% slimmer bezel and a 15% thinner rotating bezel on the classic. Speaking of the classic, that’s really the big deal here. The rotating dial is back, giving that classic look in a refined smart watch.
As far as new health mechanics go, there’s totally new sleep system which ranks your sleep and tries to coach you into getting a better night’s sleep. There’s also a new personalised heart rate zone to test your help analyse your physical capabilities.
