The 13 Biggest Announcements From The Game Awards 2022

Some huge new reveals!

The Game Awards 2022 took place today, and we got a massive amount of announcements ranging everywhere from big new game announcements from PlayStation to a bunch of new release dates for some upcoming AAA games.

Elden Ring took out the top award of Game of the Year whilst God of War Ragnarok took out a huge amount of awards too, but here were the 13 biggest announcements.

Death Stranding 2 Was Announced

It’s been long rumoured but we finally got an offical reveal for Death Stranding 2 (working title). The trailer featured Lea Sydoux and Norman Reedus as well as something unknown called the Drawbridge. There’s no release date, and it’s coming exclusively (we assume) for PS5.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores Is A PS5 Exclusive Expansion

We got to see the first major expansion for Horizon Foridden West which is titled Burning Shores. It’s coming exclusively to PS5 on April 19th and it will take Aloy to Los Angeles with the Hollywood sign being front and centre in the reveal trailer.

DIABLO 4 GOT A RELEASE DATE

The long-awaited Diablo 4 got a new trailer and we also now know that the game is coming on June 6th, 2023.

WE SAW THE FIRST STAR WARS JEDI: SURVIVOR GAMEPLAY AND GOT A RELEASE DATE

It was revealed that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is releasing on March 17th, 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. We got a first look at gameplay which looks to take things far beyond what we saw in the first game in terms of visuals and gameplay elements. There’s also a Limited Run Games Collector’s Edition which includes a life-size lightsaber. You can find that HERE.

SUICIDE SQUAD KILL THE JUSTICE LEAGUE IS COMING SOONER THAN EXPECTED

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is coming May 26, 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The trailer featured a touching tribute to Kevin Conroy, who will reprise Batman for his final time after passing away earlier this year.

CRASH TEAM RUMBLE IS BRINGING NOSTALGIC VIBES

Activision announced a new multiplayer Crash Bandicoot game called Crash Team Rumble. It’s a 4v4 platforming game that’s coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One in 2023.

FINAL FANTASY 16 GOT A RELEASE DATE

We now know that Final Fantasy 16 is releasing on PS5 on June 22nd, 2023. We got a trailer called “Revenge” and also an epic Collector’s Edition reveal that includes an epic Pheonix vs Ifrit statue.

HADES 2 IS A THING

An announcement that nobody really saw coming. Hades 2 was revealed and it’s a direct sequel to the original game. It’s launching in early access in 2023.

IDRIS ELBA IS JOINING THE CYBERPUNK 2077 EXPANSION

Keanu Reeves won’t be the only Hollywood A-Lister in the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, Phantom Liberty. It was also confirmed that Idris Elba will be playing the part of Solomon Reed.

ARMORED CORE IS BACK!

After more than 10 years, it was announced that From Software (Elden Ring) is developing a new Armored Core game called Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon. It’s coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC in 2023.

BAYONETTA ORIGINS: CEREZA AND THE LOST DEMON IS A BAYONETTA PREQUEL 

Nintendo announced unexpectedly that a Bayonetta spin-off called Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon. It’s a top-down, dungeon crawler and it’s coming to Switch

THE LAST OF US PART 1 AND RETURNAL ARE BOTH COMING TO PC

PlayStation is doubling down on its PC efforts revealing that Returnal is coming to PC next year. It also revealed that The Last Of Us Part 1 is releasing on PC on March 3rd, 2023.

 

WE SAW THE FIRST FULL SCENE FROM THE SUPER MARIO BROS MOVIE

We’ve had two trailers for The Super Mario Bros movie now, but we got to see our first full scene. It showed Mario being introduced to his platforming background for the first time. Taking a warp pipe and being absolutely exhausted as he platformed through a level. It’s out in April, 2023.

There’s one thing for sure. 2023 is going to be a big thing for video games.
