Microsoft has confirmed to The Verge that the price of the Xbox Series X is going up in non-US markets including Australia. This price increase will also effect European markets, the UK and Canada.

As of August 1st, the new price of the Xbox Series X will be $799.99 AUD which is in-line with the current PS5 price and a hike of $50 over the current RRP of $750 AUD.

In a statement to The Verge, Xbox Head of Communications said: “We’ve held on our prices for consoles for many years and have adjusted the prices to reflect the competitive conditions in each market,”

Similarly, the price of Xbox Game Pass is also going up starting July 6th. It’ll now cost $18.95 AUD per month with the base Xbox Game Pass now costing $11.95 per month, which is an increase of $2 USD and $1 USD respectively. Existing customers won’t see the increase until August 13th with yearly subscribers staying on their current price until that plan ends.

We’ll let you know if we hear from Xbox Australia exclusively on this matter, but you should absolutely expect to see the price of the Xbox Series X go up as of August 1st.
