Amazon Prime launched in Australia five years ago, and today, the first price increase has been announced.
As of May 24th, new members will pay $9.99 AUD per month (up from $6.99 per month) or $79 per year (up from $59 per year).
If you change to a year long plan now, you’ll only pay the $59 for an entire year and essentially save 50% across the year as opposed to paying $10 per month following June. You can do that HERE.
For those that are already Prime subscribers, you’ll get an extra month with your existing price, with the above prices going up for existing subscribers on June 28th.
NEW AMAZON PRIME PRICES
- $9.99 AUD every month
- $79 AUD every 12 months ($6.60 AUD per month)
I have to say, even with the price increase the value of Amazon Prime is still better than almost any other service. The free delivery has improved to be same or next day with it now including a lot more items that it did at launch, the offering on Prime Video is fantastic and the monthly free games are nothing to sneeze at as well.
“Prime members love the combination of shopping, savings and entertainment in one membership that Prime provides them, and we are committed to continue investing in and growing the value of Prime. Since launching in 2018, we’ve added more product selection available with fast, free, Prime delivery; launched Prime exclusive deals and discounts; and added more high-quality digital entertainment, including TV, movies, music, and books. With the continued expansion of Prime member benefits, and so we can continue growing the offering, we will change the price of Prime from $6.99 to $9.99/month, and the annual membership from $59 to $79.” said head of Prime Australia, Marcos Regalo.
