It’s been long rumoured and NVIDIA has today announced RTX Spark, its Widows chipset that is set to change laptops forever.
RTX Spark will essentially power laptops and desktop computers both on the CPU and GPU sides, competing with the likes of Apple, Intel, AMD and Qualcomm. It’s said that laptops with RTX Spark will meet or beat the most powerful thin and light laptop machines ever.

The NVIDIA RTX Spark is Arm-based, meaning that Windows software made for Intel and AMD processors will need to run through emulation, but Microsoft has spent years getting applications ready for this moment.
NVIDIA gave the example of RTX Spark being able to render a 90GB 3D scene, edit 12K resolution video play Indiana Jones and the Great Circle at a smooth 100FPS at 1440p all in a 14mm thick laptop.

There’s over 30 laptops and 10 desktops with RTX Spark on the way with NVIDIA announcing these ones so far:
- ASUS ProArt P14
- ASUS ProArt P16
- Dell XPS 16
- HP OmniBook X 14
- HP OmniBook Ultra 16
- Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i
- Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra
- MSI Prestige N16 Flip AI+
It’s also been confirmed that special versions of Adobe Premiere and Photoshop are on the way that take advantage of NVIDIA’s new chip for better performance with more efficiency, and there’s a bunch of other developers that NVIDIA is working with directly as well.
With Apple totally changing the game with the MacBook Neo earlier this year, it’s great to see NVIDIA and Windows being innovative as well, and it’s going to be interesting to see how this shakes out over the coming months and years.
