Apple has announced that a special free iPad AR experience has just launched at the Art Gallery of NSW. The experience has been created by Australian artists, Tin&ED and will be available from today until Sunday July 16th. It’s also taking place at the Getty Centre in LA before it heads to Europe in October and Asia in November.
The AR experience is called Deep Field and is an augmented reality and sonic experience that brings people together from around the world to create an imagined and collaborative ecosystem.
It requires participants to get up close to artworks in the NSW Art Gallery to draw inspiration for a new piece of digital artwork which will be created using a custom drawing app on the iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil.
This art work will then be added to a global database of flora drawn by other people across the world including the Getty Centre in Los Angeles.
“Deep Field encourages children to look, listen, and think more deeply about the natural world and their place within it,” says Edward Cutting, artist at Tin&Ed. “We hope they come away from the experience feeling a sense of wonder and curiosity and a deeper connection to nature and each other.”
You can read a lot more about the experience which was created using the power of MacBook Pro, Mac Studio with M1 Ultra and the Studio Display as well as Unity HERE.
