Meta launched the Meta Quest Pro late last year, and dropped its price by $500 USD ($700 AUD) just weeks later, but it appears that hasn’t been enough.
According to a report from The Information, Meta is already scaling back production on the Meta Quest Pro, instructing its manufacturer to only build based on the inventory of parts that it had available.
The report continues to suggest that Meta has also stopped development of a second-generation Quest Pro, with the company to focus on the upcoming release of the Meta Quest 3 and try and own the entry-level market.
The Meta Quest 3 will launch in Spring this year for $829.99 AUD bringing with it many features of the high-end Meta Quest Pro including augmented reality through colour pass through.
Whilst Meta hasn’t yet commented on this, it’s probable that the company feels it has the low-end covered with Apple going after the high-end market with the Apple Vision Pro.
