Google has announced the successor to the Chromecast and it’s called the Google TV Streamer. It will cost $99.99 USD (~$154 AUD) when it releases later this month and it does away with its dongle design going for a design that looks a lot more like a set top box.
As far as hardware goes it will be available in porcelain (white) and hazel (dark gray). It has an ethernet port, a HDMI port (no cord included) as well as a USB port for power. As far as performance goes, it’s 22 percent faster, has double the ram and 32GB of storage as well
It has a new feature that allows you to push one button on the side of the remote that will bring up your smart home devices and cameras among other smart home accessories as well. The streaming box also brings Thread and Matter support to allow for easy smart home connectivity.
The remote looks pretty similar to the one that came with the older Chromecasts although it dow supports the ability to find it by pressing a button on the actual streamer box itself.
Just like the high-end Chromecast, it’ll have Fk HDR support with Dolby Vision as well as Dolby Atmos support as well. You can find out more about the Google TV Streamer HERE.
The Made by Google event will be taking place next week with loads of new devices announced, but more on that here.
