Sony has this morning announced the Sony WF-1000XM5 wireless earbuds. The big story on the surface is that they’re 25% smaller and approximately 20% lighter than the predecessor making them more comfortable to wear but also more sleek in the ears.

The Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds will cost $499.95 AUD. They’re set to release in Australia in August with pre-orders started today. Amazon currently have them for $419.95 AUD and you can pre-order them HERE.
Despite the drop in size, Sony has said that they have an increase in noise cancelling, with three microphones on each earbuds as well as improvements to the processor.
A new noise isolation earbud tip also improves the ability to reproduce lower frequencies.
The WF-1000XM5 also come with head tracking technology to which is great as spatial audio is all the rage at the moment.
Popular Sony noise cancelling features such as Adaptive Sound Control and Speak To Chat are also present as well as multipoint connect that lets you connect the earbuds to two devices at once.
