Nintendo has updated the world on the long-awaited Nintendo Switch successor and confirmed that we’ll finally have an announcement before March 2025.
Tweeting out after it’s investor meeting, the President of Nintendo said: “This is Furukawa, President of Nintendo. We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015. We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024, but please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation.”

Nintendo confirmed that it would be holding a Nintendo Direct in June, but that the Nintendo Switch successor wouldn’t feature, so it’s likely that this will come later this year or early next year, and very likely that it will follow the same release schedule as the original Nintendo Switch.
According to a Bloomberg report, the new console will have an 8-inch LCD screen. For comparison, the original Nintendo Switch launched with a 6.2-inch LCD screen whilst the Nintendo Switch OLED had a larger 7-inch OLED screen.
It will apparently include an upgraded processor that can take advantage of DLSS upscaling technology, but we now have a good indication of what to expect from the screen.
This newer, larger screen would be the same size as the recently released PlayStation Portal, which has a fantastic LCD screen despite it not being OLED with super vivid colours and great contrast.
