The portable projector market has really come to life in the last few years offering experiences of mixed results, but make no doubt, the XGIMI MoGo 2 Pro takes the guesswork out of setup whilst providing a image that goes far beyond the quality of others in this price point.
Some of the biggest painpoints with projectors come with setup and getting a clear image, but the XGIMI MoGo 2 Pro takes all of the guesswork out of it and provides a great image each and every time. You’re able to get a 200-inch screen (diagonal) with XGIMI recommending the sweet spot being between 60 and 120-inches, but it’s some really intelligent software that allows you to hit this sweet spot with ease.
The Intelligent Screen Adaption 2.0 technology automatically corrects keystone and autofocuses on movement. This means that no matter what angle you point the projector at, it will automatically adjust the edges so that it is a perfectly flat screen. Similarly, it’ll autofocus so that the picture is as close as possible.
It doesn’t stop there though. the MoGo 2 Pro has intelligent obstacle avoidance meaning that if there’s a light switch or a plant in the way, the projector will automatically detect this and limit the projected image to an area with no obstacles. I was really impressed at how quickly the projector was able to detect obstacles in the way and get around them.
Similarly, the projector can detect when you step on front of the light and will quickly turn on a black eye protection mode. Obviously, this is great for kids or pets that may walk in front of the projector and look straight into it. Further improvements can be made manually using the remote, but I rarely found myself needing to head into the menus to fix clarity or adjust the keystone.
The MoGo 2 Pro design is super high-end and sleek. Whilst former versions of this projector had a built-in battery, the MoGo 2 Pro does not, instead XGIMI opted to leave it out, which makes sense due to how far power bank technology has come. I was able to pair the projector with the Anker 737 power bank, which got about 2-3 hours of power which is perfect for on the go. You can use any power bank that can delivery 65w of power.

As far as inputs go, you’ve got a USB-C port, a USB-A port and a full HDMI port for connecting any gaming consoles or streaming devices too. The projector has Android TV 11 meaning that it’s super fast, can provide content recommendations that are personalised to your account and has a number of streaming apps, both local and global. One omission is still Netflix, which isn’t available in the Google Play store on XGIMI projectors, but can be sideloaded quite easily (with instructions in the box), or you can also connect a Fire TV stick or even Chromecast from your device to the projector.
As far as picture quality goes, I was very impressed, particularly in the brightness space. The MoGo 2 Pro has a capability of 400 ISO lumens. XGIMI says that this is almost 30% brighter than other projectors in this space, and I believe this claim. Putting the MoGo 2 Pro next to the Samsung Freestyle, which is identical in price, the MoGo 2 Pro simply blew it out of the park in terms of brightness, able to project an image clearly inside in daylight, when the Freestyle looked dull with a lack of contrast.
Similarly, the picture quality is vibrant with the MoGo 2 Pro able to reach 90% of the DCI-P3 spectrum for HDR with a D65 colour temperature used in certain modes. Whether I was watching cartoons such as The Simpsons or movies such as Marvel’s Avengers, the contrast was great, vibrancy was there and it was a genuine joy to just set up the projector in any room and have it look fantastic. The 1080p resolution is more than enough for the use cases that you’ll likely find yourself using this projector in.
Sound is an another area where projectors can be hit and miss, but boy was I blown away by the sound out of the MoGo 2 Pro. It features two stereo 8w speakers that really put out oomph. No matter whether I was listening to music, playing games or watching a movie, voices were crisp with a good amount of bass coming out of that very visual diaphragm on the back of the unit. You’re able to choose between sound settings for Movie, Sport, News and Music. The unit can also be used a Bluetooth speaker which speaks to XGIMI’s confidence in it as an audio device.
If you’re a gamer, The MoGo 2 Pro has a dedicated game mode. Whilst it doesn’t allow the use of keystone correction in this, you can expect an input lag of roughly 30-35ms which is more than sufficient for gaming. This makes it an excellent projector for taking away, or in the bedroom/office.
All-in-all, The XGIMI MoGo 2 Pro not only has a fantastic picture and stunning audio, but it’s the smarts inside that take all the guesswork out of getting the great picture that makes it a genuine joy to use and a step above the rest.
