Apple held its ‘Scary Fast’ event yesterday revealing new M3 MacBook Pros and a new M3 24-inch iMac, but it was a little footnote that came right at the end of the footnote that was most surprising, and that’s the fact that the entire keynote was shot on an iPhone 15 Pro Max.
This is super impressive for a few reasons, the first is that not only was this a visual feast (as Apple keynote’s normally are), this involved drone footage, and a lot of low-light videography that would have been hard to pull off with the best cameras let alone an iPhone 15 Pro.
Apple has provided a rare glimpse of how this was done in a behind the scenes video, which is great to watch as whilst Apple has been going on about how the iPhone 15 Pro camera is great for professional videography with its ProRes 4K and Log encoding capabilities, the proof is absolutely in the pudding with yesterday’s event and seeing it in action in the video.
Apple went on to say that the free Blackmagic Camera was used as well as Beastgrip accessories, and naturally the video was also edited on. Mac.
Speaking about the production, the Director of the shoot said: “It’s amazing to see that the quality from a device that is so small and so portable can rival a large $20,000 camera. … There’s cranes, there’s dollies, there’s all the toys that you want as a filmmaker, and everybody’s moving and has their job to do, and it’s just a very exciting and lively environment.”
The new M3 MacBook Pro and M3 24-inch iMac drop in stores on November 7th, and you can read more about those HERE.
