ASUS ROG ALLY X

The ASUS ROG Ally X Will Have Double The Battery Size And A Big RAM Increase

Huge!

Details as well as the first image of the ASUS ROG Ally X has leaked courtesy of Videocardz and it’s definitely shaping up to be a big upgrade.

The ASUS ROG Ally X will apparently have double the battery size at 80 Wh (compared to 40 Wh in the original). This would make it the largest battery in a Windows portable handheld and should provide roughly double the battery life which would definitely be a game-changer.

Despite double the battery size, it’s only going to be 70 grams heavier and a few mm thicker than the original ASUS ROG Ally, which is pretty impressive.

The Aly X will also have 24GB of LPDDR5(X) 7500 memory which is not only 8GB more than the original, but it’s also a faster memory speed which should provide a performance increase.

There’s also improvements to the connections with the ROG XG Mobile port for the external GPU replaced with a USB 4 Type-C port which will support both DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery 3.0.

The ergonomics have been changed to apparently allow for more comfort (something the MSI Claw does better in my opinion) and there have also been improvements to the D-Pad.

As far as the fans go, they are apparently 23% smaller with 50% thinner fins, but airflow has been increased by 10%. As far as the price goes, there’s nothing concrete yet but earlier rumours suggested it’d carry a price tag of $100 USD more.

In terms of the APU and screen, the ASUS ROG Ally X will use the same Z1 Extreme APU and the same IPS 7-inch 120HZ display as well, although these were both applauded in reviews of the device (including ours).
