We know that a new Meta Quest is on the way at some point this year, but the Meta Quest 3 randomly appeared on the Meta Quest app store over the weekend prompting us to believe that it could be sooner rather than later.
Interestingly enough, it popped up as being supported by all apps alongside the Quest, Quest 2 and Quest Pro. On the mobile app, it shows as ‘New Quest’, but when looking on the actual app store on a headset, it shows as the Meta Quest 3.
In the Meta Quest Store looks like they mistakely Mention Meta Quest 3 as one of the Support in the Store

This is interesting because it almost certainly confirms that all apps and games that have been previously released will be compatible with the Meta Quest 3, but it also means that a reveal could be imminent in the next few weeks, at the Meta Quest Gaming showcase on June 2nd, rather than at Meta Connect which normally takes place on October.
Obviously, it might still be revealed later in the year, but it does mean that we’re closer to this happening. We still don’t know a lot about the Quest 3, but from leaks, we know it’ll be twice as powerful as the Quest 2 and be slimmer, but it’s also likely to cost a lot more. It’s said that it likely won’t have eye or face tracking, but it will have a depth sensor to provide advanced mixed reality.
With Apple set to announce its new AR/VR headset in just a few weeks at WWDC, and the Meta Quest 3 coming this year, it’s going to be really interesting to see how this shakes out.
